MASAKI AIBA
The latest thing he bought, was just a tiger hat souvenir for members!?
Aiba Masaki
Q. Last night, what did you do?
The recording for a special program. It ended at about 11pm.
Q. This morning, what time did you wake up?
About 10am.
Q. The first thing you did upon waking up.
I took a bath. When work is at an ungodly hour in the morning on the next day, I take a bath on the night before but, basically, I'm the type to take a bath in the morning.
Q. The time it takes before you leave the house?
About 10 minutes, if I'm feeling good (?)*. But, I usually wake up at about 1 hour before I leave the house. I'll change, pick up my bag, pick up my cellphone too, then sleep for a second time (laughs). When I have a cellphone in my hand, I can wake up instantly.
Q. Lately, something that you've smiled at, that you've laughed at.
For a "Tensai Shimura Doubutsuen" recording, I went to Thailand. For the manager who went, it was her first time abroad. So, after her luggage went pass the X-ray machine, she forgot to take them. She went through immigration like that. Then when she remembered, panicked, and tried to return, she was arrested by the customs people (laughs). She should've just explained the situation, but I guess she must've been really frantic.
Q. Lately, something you had fun with.
When I saw a famous bridge that appeared in a movie at a suburb in Thailand. Just at that moment, they were doing some kind of show there. I was applauding while watching it from an open terrace restaurant, but the people around had a really cold reaction. It was actually a rehearsal, but I still had lots of fun with a rehearsal ♪
Q. Lately, something that that made you happy.
When I rode a Harley that I had been wanting to ride since before, at a photoshoot. It made me want it but, it'd be cold to ride a bike in winter huh.
Q. Lately, something that made you angry, that made you frustrated.
Nothing really.
Q. Lately, something that made you sad, something that caused you pain.
There's an antique clock that I saw in a magazine and wanted to get, and because it's in Kawasaki, I had decided to ride the train over there on my own. Because Kawasaki was in Kanagawa Prefecture, I thought, "It'll take about 1 hour from the city right?" and bought 3 volumes of manga with the preparation for a small trip, but when I took the train from Shinagawa, it arrived in about 10 minutes. "Eh! I've already arrived!?" I was shocked.
Q. Lately, something embarrassing.
It was embarrassing that I lacked so much knowledge of the world, that I didn't know Kawasaki was this close from the city.
Q. Lately, something that hurt.
My wisdom teeth grew in the sides, and I had been saying, "My wisdom teeth hurt," all this time but, it wasn't the wisdom teeth that hurt, but the joint in my jaw. I said here and there, that "my wisdom teeth hurt", but I had made a mistake.
Q. Your latest troubles.
It sure has been cold every day lately.
Q. Your latest off-day.
I went to play golf, something I hadn't done for half a year. It was fun~ I thought, "Golf is a leisure" but, in the period that I didn't go there for a while, everyone around me had gotten better. Because I'm frustrated, I want to get better too!
Q. Something you bought lately.
Souvenir hats to members, from Thailand. It has a tiger emblem on it, and the 4 members have different colours. But, everyone didn't like it and told me, "We don't want them anymore~" (laughs)
Q. Lately, the item you'll definitely carry around with you.
Lip cream.
Q. About how much money do you have in your possession today?
(Takes out his wallet) About 20,000 yen I think.
Q. Lately, an item you're obsessed with, or an incident.
A soccer game with my friends. I always play with a team from England called Newcastle. My favourite player is Martins.
Q. Lately, a delicious meal you had.
Meals are always delicious. For lunch today, I had Chinese with my manager but, the mapo tofu that I ordered was delicious. Because manager-san was eating a normal order of fried rice, I told her, "This is delicious you know? Try it!" and put some of it on, so I made it into mapo fried rice for her. ♥
Q. Something that you want to eat the most.
I'm full (laughs).
Q. Lately, music that you like.
When it turns into the cold season, I'd want to listen to Hirose Koumi.
Q. Lately, an interesting movie, DVD.
The movie "Die Hard 4" that I saw on the plane was interesting! And Adrenaline" with Jason Statham from "Transporter" was interesting too.
Lately, an incident or a piece of news that you're concerned about.
When you watch the TV, there's a lot of sad news huh.
Q. Lately, a person you want to meet.
The soccer player, Martins.
Q. Now, the item you want most.
Friends.
Q. Now, something that you want to try, that you want to start.
Diving right. At my hometown's ocean (laughs).
Q. Now, something you want to stop.
Going back to sleep again.
Q. Today, when you go home, what do you plan to do?
It depends on my tension. If it's high, I'll go drinking, if it's low, I'll watch videos at home.
Q. About how many minutes, do you take a bath?
About 30 minutes when it's long. I'm fast when I just wash though~ I'm done in about 5 minutes.
Q. When you enter the bath, where do you start washing from?
My head.
Q. Lately, is there something you definitely do before you sleep?
Set water in the humidifier. Because I don't like to have my throat hurt when I wake up.
Q. The way you look when you sleep lately.
Jersey. There are times when I wear shorts for the bottom.
Q. A dream you had lately.
You know, dreams are things that you forget, the minute you wake up and get them.

Q. Lately, something that you've smiled at, that you've laughed at.
I think laughed while I was watching the TV but, what was it? I forgot.
Q. Lately, something you had fun with.
A game I guess. Because games are the only things I've been playing. Well, that's not something that's recent though. I've been playing it all the time after all. Yesterday, I played for about 6 hours. Because I have nothing to do when I go home, and I have free time.
Q. Lately, something that that made you happy.
Urawa RED's 3rd place in the Club World Cup. My team (in the soccer game) has Tulio player in it too so, I feel a sense of affinity growing.

Q. Lately, something that made you sad, something that caused you pain.

Q. Lately, something embarrassing.

Q. Lately, something that touched you.
Clearly it's Urawa I guess. I saw the Milan match on TV. I had thought, maybe I should give Sho-chan a call, since he actually went to watch it? But I didn't.
Q. Lately, something that hurt.
When I went to have meals with friends and I pulled out my wallet with the intention to split the bill, there was nothing but Euro in my wallet, so it hurt... I apologized, "I'm sorry!" and was treated by them.
Q. Your latest troubles.
What should I do, for my gaming to get better? I think I'm probably at the better end of the scale but, I want to become even better. I haven't really played that many matches so, my rank hasn't risen.
Q. Your latest off-day.
It's completely about games. The longest I've played is for about 15 ~ 16 hours in a day. When it's time to sleep, I was seriously exhausted. Even though the game music wasn't playing, it was ringing in my head.
Q. Something you bought lately.
I haven't bought anything. I'm thinking about going out to buy games today though. When I went to Spain, as souvenirs for the members, I bought neckties, alarm clocks, socks and such.
Q. Lately, the item you'll definitely carry around with you.
Nothing really.
Q. About how much money do you have in your possession today?
(pulls out his wallet) 43,000 yen. Because I was afraid, I thought I'd put some money in. I intend to go buy games today anyway.
Q. Lately, an item you're obsessed with, or an incident.
Games. But, listen! It's because lately, I connect to the internet, and there are people to play matches against. That's the difference. Around this time, I played a match against the guy who ranked about 100 in the world but, he sure was strong, that guy... I want to try playing against the guy ranked number 1. Lately, an incident or a piece of news that you're concerned about.
I was shocked, that anyone could get shotguns that easily.
Q. Lately, a person you want to meet.
Okamoto Kenichi. I have to pass umeboshi to him. A phone call suddenly came from Ken-chan, and I was told, "Give me umeboshi." Did I eat that somewhere!? When I asked, "Why umeboshi?" he said that "Keito wants to eat delicious umeboshi." Now, I have some in my house but, I haven't passed them over yet. Maybe I'll go today? ****
Q. Now, the item you want most.
Time. Time to play games. In any case, I have to raise my rank! I want to become so good to the point that everyone says, "Amazing~!"
Q. Now, something that you want to try, that you want to start.
Nothing. Rather than starting on something, I have to take it up to the top with the things I have now.
Q. Now, something you want to throw away.
The matches I lost. When I played games this morning too, I had a lot of points taken away from me. I had just brought down my percentage of lost points too.
Q. Today, when you go home, what do you plan to do?
Games. But, I do intend to hand over the umeboshi today.
Q. About how many minutes, do you take a bath?
About 10 minutes.
Q. When you enter the bath, where do you start washing from?

Q. The way you look when you sleep lately.
Fleece from top to bottom. It's warm. ♥
Q. A dream you had lately.
I had a really erotic dream. I wonder what that was, seriously. Even though I've been playing soccer games the entire time. It's a mystery. I don't remember the content but, with the feel of, why did I have such an erotic dream!? I was surprised.

My one regret regarding the one year I spent in Japan is that, I never knew about Arashi then. And, one of the reasons why I never really bothered to find out more about them or the Johnny's in general, is that almost all my friends (including my host family) had nothing good to say about them. "Oh, they're male idols, but they can't really do what they say they can do." or "Oh... Johnny's." My host mom likes one or two of SMAP's songs, but she doesn't have many good things to say about them either.
Now, Arashi has me thinking - the entire group is filled with members that completely throw off people's bad opinions of the Johnny's.
Johnny's members can't sing or dance.
Ohno Satoshi, any and all of his solos, period.
Johnny's members can't act.
Ninomiya Mr. Hollywood Kazunari begs to differ. So does Clint Eastwood, I'm sure.
Johnny's members aren't smart.
Sakurai Sho has a Keio degree in economics and will soon be a presenter for the election show.
Johnny's members are just putting on a show for their idol image.
Aiba Masaki doesn't call himself the "commoner idol" for nothing.
Johnny's members don't do anything for themselves - they're just a bunch of pretty boys.
Matsumoto Jun voluntarily arranges Arashi concerts, and I don't think that's a simple task at all.
What do you guys think? Have you heard of any other bad things people have said about the Johnny's? Do you have any other Johnny's groups you love that you think can fight against such beliefs? ぜひ聞きたいね!
Last of all, I just watched Music Station 2006.05.12, and well.
This is right after a "Kitto Daijoubu" performance. Jun picked a ball up, threw it to Nino, got it back from Nino, then at the very last second, handed it to Ohno.
Poor Oh-chan posed with a, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON BUT I'LL TRY TO LOOK SEKSHII WITH A BALL" look, and Jun... he's got the face of a person who knows what he has done and is extremely proud of it. Look at that grin, the doS. I was wondering if it was planned or not, but I think Sho actually said, "Eh??" when he turned around to look at Ohno, s-so yeah.
I love these boys. <333

Ninomiya & Sakurai star in a high school drama, and the remaining three member's true feelings are...
Matsumoto: Aiba-chan's solo, "Friendship" really shows his character. It overflows from his song.
Ohno: It fits with Aiba-chan's vocals. For me, when I listen to this song, I get so touched.
Matsumoto: That friends are great?
Ohno: Yeah. It makes me reflect on things.
Sakurai: It's a great song that touches the sleeping lion right. Nino's "Rainbow" has a bitter last [ending] in it.
Ninomiya: Ah~, that's true.
Matsumoto: If you listen till the end, you'll explode.
Ninomiya: Is that the kind of set up we've got (laugh)
Matsumoto: In a way, it makes you spark!
Ninomiya: Yes well. I'd like everyone to listen from the start, right to the end of the end.
Sakurai: Right right. If you ask why the ending makes your heart jump, it's because of the flow from the beginning right.
Aiba: In the song, there's a story right.
Sakurai: A mini-drama.
Ohno: Nino's vocals are good here too.
Sakurai: Was the lion touched?
Ohno: Yes! It was touched!
Ninomiya: The second touching moment has entered for the sleeping lion! (laugh)
Sakurai: What about my "Can't Let You Go"
Ohno: I was touched.
Sakurai: Oi! No matter how you think of that, it was an attempt to end the conversation wasn't it!
Ohno: I did think that it was a song that only Sho-kun could sing.
Aiba: This one's cool too.
Matsumoto: For me, it was fresh. It's a song that brings out a different part of Sho-kun, other than his RAP image.
Aiba: I wonder if they're looking forward to a calm Sho-chan?
Ninomiya: It's about time huh.
Sakurai: (laugh) I thought it was about time for me to calm down.
Ninomiya: Sho-chan has been heavy on that after all.
Sakurai: You know, it feels like we unravelled our songs at a good time huh.
Even though you just finished your Dome performances successfully, along with a new album in July, you're having a national tour. Clearly, this year's Arashi is amazing!
Sakurai: For that, if you want to know why, it's because our sleeping lion has awakened.

Aiba: As a newly produced concert it's been a year too huh.
Matsumoto:
I'd like to make it an interesting thing that gives off Arashi's "Now".
Although that's the usual thing, it'd be great if we can create a
concert that, with far more importance than words that linger in the
heart, brightens everyone who's in the same space as us... Ah, I sure
said a good thing huh. That's right! It's a concert that takes "Now" as
important.
Ninomiya: We're really excited about it aren't we.
Ohno: That's very true. At places we've never been, at halls we're familiar with, I'd like to have fun at all of them.
Matsumoto: For Arashi's summer, we have to announce dramas too.
Member love has entered! In the drama "Yamada Tarou Monogatari" (TBS channel) Ninomiya and Sakurai's first co-star drama has been decided!
Aiba: I'm looking forward to it~
Ninomiya: You liar! You're definitely not looking forward to it!
Matsumoto:
You thought that he'd be doing "Dokaben" right? (*Dokaben is a baseball
anime with a chubby character called Yamada Tarou in it.)
Ninomiya: "This time's Yamada Tarou sure has slimmed down huh," is what he said to me.
Aiba: I get it now, really! "Yamada Tarou Monogatari" right? Sho-chan is the cool role right.
Ninomiya: Cool, smart, athletic, and he's a great person too.
Aiba: Ohh~ that means, he's taking on the challenge of an impossible character huh.
Sakurai: Excuse me Aiba-san, but could you not say that here please.
Aiba: I'm really looking forward to it~ Right, Leader?
Ninomiya: Are you anticipating it?
Ohno: Yeah. I'm wondering whether the two of you are being good friends with your co-stars...
Matsumoto: What kind of worry are you having (laugh)
Sakurai: I wonder if it looks like we have the hope of being loved?
Ohno: Nino has it I think.
Sakurai: I won't do? (laugh)
Ohno: It's because Nino's cute ♥ [let me just add that this heart was in the article.]
Sakurai: Ee~to, wha'bout me~~?
Ohno: ..........
Sakurai: IS MY FUTURE BLEAK!
Ohno: I wonder. Well, I want Sho-kun to work hard!
Matsumoto: You sure treat it like it's someone else's problem~ (laugh)
Arashi Around Asia DVD
皆、もう見たかな?
リーダーの真っ白な姿、かっこよくて、たまんねぇ!*_____* ニノも言ってたんだけど、本当に社長っぽく見えるね。
What does everyone think of it?
I think the cameramen and editors must really like ShoxNino. XD That, I can't stop replaying Ohno's Top Secret. Mmmmm, hips.
So, like everyone else, I've been antsy about getting my AAA DVD, but I hope I can ask this question without sounding like a complete tool. ^^;
Long story short, I pre-ordered the DVD on YesAsia with Super Saver shipping. It was shipped on 22 May. Now, I'm aware that it takes about 5 to 9 days for orders on Super Saver to arrive. However, here's the problem:
The USPS tracking code that YesAsia gave me does not seem to work on the USPS site. It keeps saying, " No information is available for this item. Please contact the sender." That could either mean that there's no tracking service for this order, or well, that it's lost out there somewhere. I don't see why YesAsia would provide a tracking code if I couldn't track it though.
If anyone has any experience with this at all, is this normal? Should I wait it out, or should I contact YesAsia asap?
Isn't it sweet how Aiba quickly adjusts
Leader's jacket out of his jeans for him? (If you watch Ohno get off
the couch before this, you can see that the jacket was tucked into his
jeans.) It's these tiny subtle
gestures that make me adore Arashi. <3
それでは、今夕食を食べに行きます。
